The NB Power Group Policy applies to all aspects of NB Power's activities. These include the generation of electricity from various energy sources, including nuclear, oil, coal, and hydro; and the transmission and distribution of electricity to customers. It also includes those activities that support the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, including management of land, raw materials, and by-products.

Our Environmental Policy

NB Power Group is committed to the achievement of excellence and innovation in protecting the environment of the province while meeting its mandate to provide economic and reliable energy to the people of New Brunswick. NB Power Group considers that the environmental performance of its facilities is as important to its customers as the quality of the service they receive.

The environmental principles which follow guide NB Power Group's environmental performance and affirm NB Power Group responsibility for and commitment to environmental protection:

Leadership
NB Power Group maintains a leadership role in the investigation of new environmentally responsible technologies and methodologies through co-operative efforts with the public, industry, researchers and government.

Environmental Standards

NB Power Group complies with applicable environmental legislation and other non-regulatory commitments at its facilities, from early planning, through operation and finally to decommissioning.

Environmental Audits
NB Power is committed to periodic environmental audits of its facilities and associated monitoring programs to assess compliance with regulatory requirements and consistency with industry standards and internal procedures.

Environmental Protection
NB Power Group provides a framework for setting and reviewing objectives, targets and procedures to assist its employees in meeting the utility commitment to environmental protection, prevention of pollution and improvement of its environmental management systems.

Partnership

NB Power Group strives to ensure its Environmental Policy is respected by all its partners, including contractors, consultants and suppliers of goods and services.
