Earth Hour 2011

NB Power encouraged all New Brunswickers to participate in Earth Hour on Saturday March 26, 2011. Earth Hour is a global grass-roots movement encouraging individuals, businesses and governments around the world to take positive actions for the environment, and to celebrate their commitment to the planet by switching off their lights for one designated hour - 8:30 - 9:30 p.m.

Last year, New Brunswickers showed their support for Earth Hour, and reduced their electricity consumption by 18 megawatts for one hour, which is the equivalent to turning off 360,000 lights.

New Brunswickers rose to the challenge, making 2011 the most successful Earth Hour ever in New Brunswick! Electricity consumption was reduced by 24 megawatts for the hour, which is equal to turning off approximately 480,000 lights.

Congratulations to all New Brunswickers who participated in Earth Hour 2011 and worked together to reduce their electricity consumption to protect the environment!
