Call Before You Dig . There are power lines underground and they can cause serious injury if hit while digging. Some power lines are buried as little as one foot underground. Don't take a chance. Be sure you know where power lines are located before digging. If you are hiring a contractor, ask them if they have located the power lines. NB Power provides a line locate service free of charge to all New Brunswickers.
To avoid contact with underground lines, always contact NB Power at 1 800 663-6272 before digging for a free line locate service. We will tell you where your power lines are located and if it's safe to dig.
You should also contact other local utilities such as telephone and natural gas providers.
