Coal Storage

Coal Storage

The coal is stored inside a large dome prior to use in the boiler. The large orange scrapper conveyor is what removes the coal from the dome. There is an underground bin in the middle of the dome that supplies two conveyors that transport the coal to the crusher house. The covered coal storage dome, designed to eliminate airborne dusting and prevent leaching from the stockpile in the groundwater, is the first structure of this type to be used at any of NB Power's generating stations. It is 139 meters in diameter and 42 meters high.
