NB Power encourages customers to prepare for winter storm season
Fredericton, N.B. – NB Power is reminding all New Brunswickers to be prepared for the potential for severe weather this winter, and to have emergency plans in place to ensure their families are safe and warm in the event of a power disruption.
NB Power is recognizing November 25- 29 as Storm Preparedness Week, encouraging New Brunswickers to take a moment and to make sure they are ready for the potential impacts of severe weather.
"When storms hit our province and cause power interruptions, NB Power works hard to reconnect customers as quickly as possible with safety as the main focus," said Sherry Thomson, Vice President of Customer Service and Distribution. "Our crews work year round to make sure our system is reliable and resilient, and we are always ready to respond to power interruptions when they happen. But we also want to encourage New Brunswickers to take a moment and prepare for the possibility of storm-related outages this winter."
Here are some tips to prepare:
- Keep a flashlight and safety light sticks handy to use in place of candles to avoid fire hazards.
- Make sure you have a corded phone and/or a fully charged mobile phone. You can use your mobile phone to access our mobile outage page for the latest outage information: www.nbpower.com.
- Have a battery-operated radio and spare batteries ready as many radio stations operate using emergency power. NB Power works with the radio stations during Power Restoration work to keep you informed.
