NB Power launches 'Save Twice' energy rebates for select appliances

2013-11-01

Fredericton, N. B. – Today NB Power launched its first-ever appliance rebate program, offering customers cash back on selected energy-saving appliances during the month of November.

"We are committed to working with customers to help them save money and energy," said Gaëtan Thomas, President and CEO of NB Power. "Through this initiative and others, we are inviting New Brunswickers to participate in changing the way we use energy in our homes and businesses."

Starting today, NB Power will offer a $75 mail-in rebate to New Brunswick residents who purchase eligible clothes washers and refrigerators during the month of November.

Nearly $95,000 in rebates will be available to New Brunswickers through this program. Details on how consumers can take advantage of the rebate program are available online.

The rebate program is an important part of NB Power's long-term strategy to reduce future costs, reduce reliance on fossil-fuel energy, and provide customers with tools to control their monthly bills. Additional efficiency rebate programs will be designed and rolled out during the next three years.

This strategy also includes investments in technology to make better use of green energy through Smart Grid, the introduction of electric vehicles and the province-wide rollout of energy-saving LED street lights for municipalities.

Efficiency New Brunswick will deliver the rebate program on behalf of NB Power. Customers are invited to participate in ENB's Facebook contest by submitting ideas on how they'll spend their cash rebate, and sharing the page with family and friends to vote for the best idea. One prize will be awarded during every week of the promotion.

The Government of New Brunswick committed NB Power to invest in efficiency programs as part of its 2011 New Brunswick Energy Blueprint.
