Power restored to thousands of customers affected by first storm of the season

Fredericton, N.B. - NB Power has restored power to all but a few hundred customers knocked out by Sunday's storm, with crews facing snowy, ice-covered roads and complex weather-related issues including broken cross arms, conductors, poles and downed wires.

"I am pleased that we were able to get ahead of the storm and react quickly to restore power for our customers," said Gaëtan Thomas, President and CEO. "Our storm-related outages peaked around 14,000 on Monday morning and our crews have been working quickly and safely to reconnect all of them in the last 48 hours. We appreciate our customers' patience and understanding during this time."

The less than one per cent of customers who are still without power are being contacted directly by customer service agents.

Unrelated to the weekend storm, a transmission issue knocked out power to approximately 30,000 customers in Moncton on Tuesday at midday. Those outages were resolved within 2.5 hours.

Customers that have power are encouraged to help friends and neighbours, especially seniors, families with small children and those who are most vulnerable.
