Take advantage of NB Power’s efficiency programs on ENERGY STAR® Day

2018-10-23

Fredericton, N.B. – As part of ENERGY STAR Day, which is being celebrated across Canada today, NB Power is encouraging all New Brunswickers to learn about how they can use energy more efficiently in their homes and businesses as well as to take advantage of the Smart Habits In-store Rebate Program.

“Products that earn the ENERGY STAR label are independently certified to use less energy, helping customers save money on their energy bills, improve the comfort in their homes and contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, said NB Power President and CEO, Gaëtan Thomas. Additionally, by taking advantage of the Smart Habits In-store Rebate Program, customers can save twice.”

Until November 30, at participating retailers, NB Power is offering in-store rebates of up to $10 on items such as outlets and switch insulators, LED bulbs, faucet aerators, outdoor timers,  clothes drying racks, T8 shop lights and fixtures, smart strip power bars, water efficient showerheads and programmable thermostats. To learn more about the rebates, visit our website.

Since it started three years ago, NB Power’s Smart Habit In-store Rebate Program has helped customers save a total of $47.5 million.

“Earlier this year, NB Power was extremely proud to receive the ENERGY STAR Canada Award for provincial Utility of the Year in recognition of our efforts to promote the efficient use of energy in our customers’ homes and businesses,” added Thomas. “Energy efficiency allows New Brunswickers to save money by not using electricity they don’t need.”

In 2017, NB Power’s ENERGY STAR Day promotion and contest reached 310,000 customers on social media.

Earlier this year, NB Power unveiled the most comprehensive suite of energy efficiency programs and initiatives ever offered by the utility for homeowners and businesses. More information about the programs is available here.

Regular energy savings tips are also provided on the Home Energy Report, which is sent to 125,000 households in New Brunswick. NB Power’s Home Energy Report portal gives customers access to detailed information about their home’s energy use and customized energy savings tips.
