Calculate Your Energy Costs

Knowing how much electricity your appliances use can help you better manage your power bill. Before you can start finding savings, you'll need to calculate the cost of running each electrical device in your home.

Here are the three things you'll need to know to get started:

  1. Power - measured in kilowatts (kW) 1 kW = 1000 W
  2. Time – measured in hours (h)
  3. Rate – measured in cents per kilowatt-hour (¢/kWh)

Then use this calculator to figure out how much it costs to operate a device:

x $0.1091/ =

By understanding which devices use the most electricity, you can monitor your energy use and see where you can get the most savings in your home or business.
