Scrubber

The Flue Gas De-Sulfurization plant contains cyclones, which remove the gypsum from the water. Also found in this plant are large storage tanks, each supplying 4 large pumps that pump a limestone mixture into the top of the absorber tower to "scrub" the sulphur from the flue gas that moves up the tower. Through this process, more than 90% of the sulphur dioxide present in the flue gases is removed. Cleaned gases then enter the 168 meter high chimney and are released into the atmosphere. Vacuum belts are used to remove the moisture from the gypsum before it is transported off site for additional processing.
