At NB Power, we are always looking for ways to serve New Brunswickers and to be even more reliable efficient and responsible. That's why we are implementing wind energy.
Renewable energy sources like wind are an important part of our overall commitment to customers, the environment, and our neighbours in communities across the province. Before the end of 2020, and for each subsequent fiscal year, NB Power will ensure that 40% of the total in-province electricity sales in kWh is electricity from renewable resources.
The five areas proposed for wind development are: the Bay of Fundy, Tantramar, Miramichi Bay, Acadie / Chaleur, and in-land New Brunswick. These areas are described as the highest wind areas in New Brunswick and will allow NB Power to combine wind energy from a number of sites to decrease the variability in the energy produced from a single site.
We are confident that the development of wind energy projects will increase renewable energy in our province and result in local economic development, increased diversity of power supply and a greater reliance on domestic resources for electricity generated and sold in New Brunswick.
