Gaëtan Thomas - President and CEO
Serving as CEO of NB Power since February 2010, Gaëtan Thomas is a committed industry leader and agent of change, driven by his deep connection to customer and employee grassroots.
His vision for NB Power includes a made-in-New Brunswick smart grid supported by customer-centric technology and a workforce aimed at creating a greener, more sustainable province. This plan, now in its fourth year, is helping to reduce reliance on fossil fuels, lowering costs and keeping customer rates low and stable.
Gaëtan grew up in a tiny Francophone village in northern New Brunswick before earning a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick. A loyal and lifelong employee of the utility, he has worked in all aspects of the business including as Vice President of both Nuclear and Distribution and Customer Service divisions.
In 2015 & 2016, Gaëtan was honoured by Atlantic Business Magazine as one of the Region’s Top 50 CEOs, and was selected as one of the Most Influential Acadians by L’Acadie Nouvelle. He serves as a mentor for the Wallace McCain Institute of Entrepreneurial Leadership and is a board member for the Canadian Electricity Association, the World Association of Nuclear Operators (Atlanta Center), and electric vehicle advocacy group Plug ‘n Drive Canada, and The New Brunswick Business Council.
Darren Murphy - Chief Financial Officer & Senior Vice President Corporate Services
In June 2012, Darren was appointed Chief Financial Officer and in June 2016 was appointed the Senior Vice President Corporate Services. His areas of responsibility include Finance, Safety, Environment, Corporate Excellence, Human Resources and Business Innovation services.
Darren joined NB Power's executive team in 2007, and in addition to his current role, he has held a number of executive positions including Vice President of Distribution and Customer Service and Vice President of Transmission. He worked for over 17 years in Distribution field operations before joining the executive team.
Mr. Murphy is a member of several Boards including the Board of Directors for the Nuclear Waste Management Organization (NWMO), the New Brunswick Investment Management Corporation (NBIMC) and the New Brunswick Energy Marketing Corporation (NBEMC). Darren has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of New Brunswick.
Keith Cronkhite - Senior Vice President Business Development & Strategic Planning
Keith is the Senior Vice President of Business Development and Strategic Planning at NB Power. He oversees the utility's Strategic planning, Reduce and Shift Demand (RASD) and Corporate Business initiatives. Keith and his team will focus on developing new business opportunities and partnerships with neighbouring jurisdictions to take advantage of new energy market opportunities. Keith has held various positions of increasing responsibility in operations and corporate departments at NB Power.
Prior to joining NB Power, he worked in the private sector in Sales and Marketing. Keith has a Bachelor of Business Administration degree from the University of New Brunswick and is a current member of the Canadian Standards Association Technical Committee (CSA) as well as the Atlantica Centre for Energy (ACfE).
Lori Clark- Senior Vice President Operations
In June 2016, Lori was appointed the Senior Vice President of Operations at NB Power. She will lead the team responsible for safe, reliable generation (conventional), distribution and transmission of power across the province.
Prior to this appointment, Lori was the Vice President Regulatory Affairs and Strategic Initiatives. She has also served as the Executive Director of Regulatory Affairs and Nuclear Improvement for NB Power.
Lori began her career with NB Power in 1990. Since that time, she has held positions of increasing responsibility including Controller, Director of Finance, Managing Director of Finance, and Director of Regulatory Affairs. Lori has led the utility’s rate application processes in the past and has also appeared as a witness for NB Power at several rate hearings.
Lori holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of New Brunswick and is a Chartered Professional Accountant.
Brett Plummer - Vice President Nuclear & Chief Nuclear Officer
Brett was appointed Vice President Nuclear & Chief Nuclear Officer at NB Power's Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station in November 2015. He is accountable for leading the Point Lepreau Nuclear Generating Station's strategic direction to achieve safe, predictable and productive nuclear performance.
Brett’s extensive background includes 34 years of commercial nuclear power plant experience in Operations, Senior Leadership and Project Management roles.
Brett holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Technical Business from New Hampshire College, as well as an Associate of Science degree in Nuclear Engineering Technology from the University of New York. While in the United States Navy, he attended the Naval Nuclear Power School as well as the Naval Electronics Technician School. Additionally, Brett has completed the Institute of Nuclear Power Operations (INPO) Senior Nuclear Plant Management Course.
Wanda Harrison - Chief Legal Officer
Wanda joined NB Power in 1989 as Solicitor and Co-ordinator of Regulatory Affairs and then served as Senior Solicitor and Associate Corporate Secretary. Wanda was appointed Corporate Secretary and General Counsel in 2002.
In her role, Wanda is responsible for Legal, Real Estate, Insurance, Facilities and Security, Supply Chain, Regulatory Affairs and Compliance.
Tony O'Hara – Chief Technology Officer and Vice President, Engineering
Mr. O’Hara is the Chief Technology Officer and Vice President of Engineering for NB Power. In this role he is responsible for Engineering, Information and Operational Technology, Project Management Office, Asset Management, Distribution and Transmission System Operations and the NB Power System Operator.
Tony has been with NB Power for 28 years. Previous to his current role, Tony has held various Director and Executive Director positions within Distribution, Transmission, Project Management, and System Operations.
Mr. O’Hara holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick, as well as a member of the New Brunswick Society of Certified Engineering Technicians and Technologists.
Mr. O’Hara sits on the Executive of Cigre Canada, is a member of the Board of Directors for the Northeast Power Coordinating Council (NPCC) as well as the Eastern Interconnection Data Sharing Network (EIDSN), and is a member of the CSA Strategic Committee on Power Engineering (SCOPE).
Lynn Arsenault – Vice President, Customer Service
Lynn Arsenault was appointed Vice President of Customer Service in October 2014. Her areas of responsibility include Customer Service, Distribution, as well as Transmission construction and maintenance. Lynn will also lead the integration and execution of products and services introduced through Smart Grid and our strategy to reduce and shift the use of electricity.
Lynn was previously Director of Provincial Field Operations and has more than 28 years of experience in customer service, project management and information systems.
Sherry Thomson - Chief Human Resources Officer
Sherry was appointed Chief Human Resources Officer in November 2014. She has responsibility for all Human Resources functions at NB Power, Corporate Health and Safety as well as First Nations. Sherry has broad experience across the organization including both line operations and corporate roles.
She began her career with NB Power in 1984 and has held positions of increasing responsibility within Human Resources, Generation, Information Systems, Finance, and Customer Service, Distribution & Transmission divisions.
Susan Mesheau - Executive Director, Marketing & Communications
Susan joined NB Power in 2017 as the Executive Director of Marketing and Communications. She is responsible for leading the development of new marketing approaches and strategies that support NB Power’s vision, add customer value, and help generate revenue. She oversees several areas, including Public Affairs & Internal Communications, Government Relations, Marketing, Products, and Energy Efficiency.
Prior to this appointment, Susan was Vice-President of Enrolment and Student Services at Acadia University, where she led the University in branding initiatives, and enrolment growth. Previously she held executive director positions at the University of New Brunswick in marketing, recruitment, and retention, as well as marketing and communications positions within the New Brunswick Department of Economic Development and Tourism.
Susan is a graduate of Mount Allison University, has served on worldwide commissions in communications and marketing, and has earned several accolades in her career including the distinctive CASE Crystal Apple Award for outstanding teaching in the field of branding and marketing.
Kirby O'Donnell - Executive Director, Export Joint Ventures
In this capacity Kirby will work with neighbouring jurisdictions to find additional regional efficiencies and export opportunities that can benefit NB Power and the region.
Prior to this role, Kirby was appointed the Executive Director of New Brunswick Energy Marketing on October 1, 2013 when the utility reintegrated and formed this new subsidiary. He has been with NB Power for 35 years, serving in various roles in both the Generation and Marketing divisions.
He has overseen many important projects at the utility in management roles at the Dalhousie Generating Station, commissioning of the Belledune Generating Station and was a key player in developing the Energy Marketing group.
Phil Landry - Executive Director, Generation
Phil Landry was appointed as Executive Director of Generation in June, 2016. He is responsible for Generation, which includes thermal and hydro generating stations throughout the Province, as well as the department responsible for supplying fuel to these stations.
Phil has been with NB Power for 25 years, during which time he has held positions of increasing responsibility such as Belledune Station Manager, Distribution Regional Manager and Director of Transmission Construction and Maintenance.
Phil holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick and is a member of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of New Brunswick.
Brent Staeben - Director, Business Development
Brent came to NB Power in 2012 after a 20 year career with the New Brunswick public service. In that time he was Director of Communications for the Departments of Energy, Transportation and Human Resources Development; this included a decade at Service New Brunswick where he served as director for departments like marketing, communications and customer experience.
In this role, Brent will be responsible for exploring business opportunities that will facilitate NB Power’s growth and leadership in the evolving energy market.
Brent has graduate degrees in economics from the University of New Brunswick and Community Health and Epidemiology from Queens and is well known for his volunteer involvement with the New Brunswick music industry.
New Brunswick Energy Marketing
Kevin Wright - Executive Director, New Brunswick Energy Marketing
Kevin became the Executive Director of New Brunswick Energy Marketing in June, 2016. He has been with NB Power for 29 years, serving in various roles with increasing responsibility in both the Generation and Energy Marketing divisions.
He has worked on several major projects, such as commissioning and operating the Belledune Generating Station, Millbank and Sainte- Rose and was instrumental in developing the New Brunswick Energy Marketing group.
